They'll probably end up charging for this. But we don't (yet) know how much and how soon.

I guess phone money transfers are just too big a market to get left behind on...

true, a press release does not a service make. but, them getting to the table and making an agreement is the hard part...

Believe it or not there actually people out there who have legitimate reasons for sending / transferring money between banks

I send money back and forth between many FI's all the time with no fees. It is not instant.

I don't think there is. US really needs something like Faster Payments.

Sounds like ACH, which takes a while and isn't free with all banks.

Wachovia used to charge a fee. I believe since the merger completed Wells Fargo no longer charges it (not 100% sure)

I know for a fact BofA charges a fee to send, perhaps to receive as well.

It depends on the account you have. My checking is Platinum Privileges.

My local FI (whom I abuse for debit card reasons) charges for push ACH.
