If it's still in stock (hard to find) they are practically giving them away (compared to regular Apple prices. methinks it was $399 for a new one, possibly more than 16gb).

go to the apples store and look at their refurbished section. they are usually $100 less or so and they offer the same 1 yr warranty from apple. And as im sure dan would point out that if you purchase this on your SPG Amex (or another Amex) you can increase the warranty by another year  :)
In general Apple does not discount their products. Ever. if you see an apple product highly discounted its probably fake or broken

Amex doesn't cover refurbished products.

Check craigslist.com. you might find a sealed iPad1 for cheap.

+1.
No return protection, and more importantly no extended warranty, and generally not a smart move IMHO unless the savings are extremely significant or its an item where you won't care about those protections.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Im not sure what the downside would be. Most of the refurbs are just returns. And when that happens Apple gives it a brand new battery.
And you are still getting a 1 year warranty from Apple. $100 off is is 20%, since when is that not a substantial savings?

If it works for you, get it. Some people prefer the extra year of warranty coverage, and knowing they got a new product.

everyone here is just trying to help out the OP. you gave your suggestion and others gave their suggestions. the OP will chose what he wants, based on what's important to him, either cheaper now, or cheaper when/if it breaks..

In order to understand recursion, you first need to understand recursion.
