Are you a travel snob?
« on: May 04, 2017, 08:00:26 AM »
When people tell me they are so excited to go to Florida or some other common place I wonder "Really? You are so excited to go there? There are so many fabulous places to go why are you going back to Florida/LA/Lake George or wherever mundane place they've chosen" Nothing against those locations, but after you've gone, there are so many other places to see in the world.

Or when my coworker told me that he and his fiancee are going to Jamaica on their honeymoon and his fiance is so excited because she's never been out of the US. She grew up 3 hours from the Canadian border!

I don't consider myself particularly well traveled and there are so many places I've never been to.  I know lots of people who travel more, have been to more places etc.  But I think I've turned into a travel snob.

Is there a reason for this or were you just in the mood of sharing whatever random stuff popped into your head at the time?

Jamaica is an excellent place for a honeymoon so she should be excited.

Yes, I was reffering to the OP, I just didn't want to quote the entire thing. I agree with you here, sorry I didn't make that clear.

No, and I would go in a heartbeat. I was thrown by the "has never been out of the US."

I didn't realize "schmooze" was only for deep meaningful conversation.

This actually came up in recent conversation with a few of my travel friends recently, and wondered how people here who presumably travel a lot also feel.

I don't make fun of people travel to Miami.
I make fun of people who only travel to Miami.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I don't make fun of people travel to Miami.
I make fun of people who only travel to Miami.

Miami is fun. And it can be a super cheap quick getaway often. But it's never my first choice.

Meanwhile I also don't understand people who travel to Miami (or other such places) in the summer when their own states have amazing places to go to.

I'd say I'm the opposite of a travel snob.
I'd rather go somewhere new, random etc. But I can have a good time anywhere :)
Even Miami.
