this is a bit of a tricky one....
i'm about to close my citi prestige card and have about 6 days left till the end of the 37-day full refund period of the $450 annual fee (after the 37-period it's pro-rated refund)
i just purchased AA gift cards in order to use my 2017 $250 airline credit before i close the card. ...and yes, i stupidly left it to the last minute.
the problem is that those purchases were still in pending stage when my last statement closed. CITI is telling me that if i close my card now i wont get reimbursed for those charges because the refund happens when the next statement closes. at that point my card will be closed to will not qualify for card benefits like the airline fee reimbursement.
i could keep the card open till the statement closes and will pay for 2 months pro-rated, but i'm hoping there's some "trick" or workaround that some of the creative minds in here can contribute.
