Which other hotels would you recommend in PR in addition to the St. Regis. The St. Regis is 30k per night when I want to go for a total of 120k points. Don't have enough points yet for that.

I've stayed at La Concha and really liked it (as did the vast majority of tripadvisor). Its a Renaissance, so uses Mariott points.

Not sure if the Ritz takes points or not...  I stayed there and thought it was very nice.

my first trip report.
I stayed in PR with my wife and 13 month old. we stayed at the Sheraton Convention center which was really nice and away from the beaches. stayed in club lever overlooking the little airport and the cruise port. Chabad had minyanim every day for both Shachris and Minch/Marriv. food at chabad is quite pricy but nothing else available for dinner there. We ate at the new Falafel place in old San Juan and it was pretty good. its was $8.50 for a falafal plate which was pretty good. the special fries with sauce and cheese was great too. they sell popcorn at the same place but its not cholov yisroal. we didn't do too much in PR except the boat ride and tour of the Bacardi rum distillery. There are many activities available but without a babysitter we just relaxed most of the time. everything is mostly in spanish and its a very different feel then the USA even though no passport needed to go.
very nice place to just go and relax for a few days.

There is a Kosher falafel place in OSJ?  WHen did it open, and under what Hashgacha?  Sorry if I missed it on this thread previously....

+1. It's well worth the money spent there. I think this is one of the nicest hotels I've ever been to.
Hotel, spa, and casino, ON THE BEACH! can't beat that... and it's a ritz, which means amazing service (at least
in my experience)

Here is the link with more information (and a menu) of the Kosher felafel place in Old San Juan -- apparently opened by Chabad PR

Enjoy!

Hi, if someone would be kind enough to chime in on security and safety in the area near the Chabad house and surrounding, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Anyone ever stayed at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino?

It looks pretty nice. I can't see myself shelling out 30k for the St Regis.

I think I'm going to go with the St Regis. With AAA it comes out to be $420 including all T&Resort fees ($60 a night is a real killer) plus the SPG double promo, it ain't so bad.

Hope it all works out :)

I did not stay at the Sheraton but checked it out and found it old a run down. St. Regis is a great choice but if you want to be near chabbad I would highly recommend the Ritz, especially for only $189 a night.
