That's actually a legit question.

Officially, there's a risk of zika according to the CDC. But my research showed that the CDC is overgeneralizing based on the entire country (as they nearly always do). There have been no reports of zika on the Bay Islands, and outside of swampy areas mosquitoes are not that common. On a tiny island with no standing water they're even less of a problem.

Of course we took the obvious precautions, including spraying our clothing with permethrin and using DEET-based insect repellent.

In the end, as expected, neither of us got any mosquito bites.

how about panama? It's on my bucket list. awesome diving and plenty of kosher food
If you see something that is 50% off but don't need it, walk away and save yourself 100%

To keep to tradition of hijacking a thread, the Panamanian's claim that central Panama/Canal area has no reported zika, only down south...

@Something Fishy , I've seen discussion with regards to length of stay in Maldives or BOB. How long, in your opinion, do you feel is to short/long for (this) a private island?

Minimum three nights, preferably four. I think longer than that and you'd get island fever.

My wife disagrees and says shes fine with moving here for a year ;D.

I didn't take a gear pic .

Here's what I took:

Sony A7r II, 16-35 f/4, 28 f/2, and 16 f/3.5
Nikon 300 f/4 with Sony adapter
DJI Mavic
GoPro Hero4 Silver
Ricoh Theta 360 camera
Ikelite underwater housing with 8" dome port, 2x DS51 underwater strobes, and 4x 7" extension arms
Tripod, monopod, filters, tools, and a mountain of other accessories
Enough batteries to power an aircraft carrier (5x Sony, 5x Mavic, 5x GoPro, 16x AA, 6x external power banks, and who knows what else.)
