In LA the 2 hotels in the Pico/Robertson area that are closest to the kosher food options are the Residence Inn and Crowne Plaza. There is also the new Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel (formerly The Tower). These places will allow you to walk the Pico strip of restaurants and shuls.

In terms of things to do LA has plenty: Rodeo Dr., Disneyland, Universal Studios, Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu, Hollywood... plenty to keep you occupied I think for a few days.

Vegas mid-week you should be able to find places like the Venetian/Palazzo for about $120 a night... if not cheaper on Priceline.

Do you want to stay in the same hotel the whole time or go to a nicer hotel for the weekdays and one of those hotels for shabbos?

You may want to invest in these:

Although Mr. C has no loyalty partners I hear it is very nice from people who have been already. I would say the Residence Inn is nicer than the Crowne Plaza but I don't know what the price difference is. I forgot also, if you want something a little funkier there is a small hotel called The Avalon at Olympic/Beverly.

If you want to stay near the winery then there is an Embassy Suites Mandalay Bay in Oxnard right on the beach. Otherwise I think there is also a Hampton Inn not far.

If you are looking for just nice hotels in LA there are plenty, some loyalty programs and some not.

I don't think there's any need to stay in Oxnard.  It's not particularly far from LA that it would be worth overnighting there.

-Andaz West Hollywood (Hyatt Cat. 4)
-SLS Beverly Hills (SPG Cat. 5)
-Sheraton LAX (SPG Cat. 2)
-Sheraton Delfina Santa Monica (SPG Cat. 4)
-Hyatt Huntington Beach (Hyatt Cat. 6)

Or you can go further away for fine properties like St. Regis Monarch Beach, Hyatt Grand Champions Palm Springs, Park Hyatt Aviara, W San Diego, etc.
