Security Cameras DVR/NVR Master Thread
« on: July 17, 2017, 11:20:58 AM »
I have a Lorex LH138000 at a place with no network, looking to be able to view from exiting PC without a router/lan is that possible?

If not i guess other options are:
-A HDMI/DVI switcher etc. plugging in the monitor to both pc and dvr and switching as necessary
-Setup a cheap router with a LAN without internet and connect PC and DVR to router

I would just build my own DVR system:  http://www.zoneminder.com

Why can you run a direct patch cable from NVR lan port to computers lan port?

Considering buying this camera. What would be the difference between 2.8mm and 4mm?  Also, are people happy with this? Are there better outdoor cameras out there?

2.8 gives you a wider FOV (Field of View) than a 4 mm. So it depends on your needs if you'd rather get more space covered or rather a clearer shot of a more zoomed area.
