Many people don't understand this subject at all, or don't have time to learn it. I think if you look at it less as a product, and more as a counselor, it may help you understand. If someone knows the easiest ways to LEGALLY dispute or remove undesired marks, and I don't, I'd consider paying them for their advice. Similar to how you pay a doctor for his medical opinion, when if you knew what he knew and were able, you probably wouldn't.
Exactly. I used a plumber in my earlier example, but doctor is better because it is a knowledge/experience based business.

I said what I had to say and obviously some of you know individuals in this business and are sticking up for them. Anyone that wants to know anything about this business go to creditboards.com as they are the experts in this area. No need to believe anything I have said. If you can't spend an hour of your time reading up on this then you deserve to be scammed!!!
I'm not in this business, and I don't personally know anyone in this business (although I did think about going into it).

What I do know is- I've done credit repair to test it out and see how it works. It doesn't need to be illegal. I had success doing it the legal way. It took a lot of research, and many hours on creditboards. But it was legal.

Bankruptcy isn't the only negative item on a credit report. Some items can't be removed even illegally.

Based on my limited experience, people in "the community"/most people out there, are paying a credit repair agency to have a late payment removed.

... Again you are all missing the point. This is a scammers business. Run as fast as you can.
Are you saying that the only legal/productive way to remove some items from a report is to lie/make up stories?  (ie, the kind of things that scammers would do?)  Is that why an honest man should stay away from this?

Actually, I think it's a very lucrative opportunity, and have been toying with the idea myself. Perhaps more of a credit consultant than credit repair, but a little bit of both. There are MANY things I know about credit building/repair and general FICO score information that the average person on the street simply does not. On this forum, perhaps, but on the street? To use the random statistic made up on this thread, 9/10 frum people know absolutely nothing about credit. This forum is the exception, not the rule. Even many churners I know don't fully understand the finer points of credit, they just know what they need to get by, and lots about individual credit card bonuses! TBH, most of what I know comes from Dan's posts and this forum (over years of reading, and about a year of being an active participant myself). There is alot of knowledge out there! But many people don't have the time, knowledge, or savvy to go about this themselves, and would prefer to pay a fee to have a professional deal with it. As long as you're completely honest and trustworthy, and build a good name for yourself via word of mouth, you should be totally fine. So to answer the question that began this thread (best first post EVER, by the way), as your potential competition: Go for it. There's a lot of room for this, it's a great way to make money and simultaneously help many people who really need it!

Agree.

There are already frum companies doing this, but I don't know if they have a good name or not.
Either way, there's plenty of people who need this service, so there's room for more...

You are not one of the scammers but you will end being one of those that do more harm than good to the CR.  :P

Tell them to take five minutes and write a good will letter. That one is on the house.  ;)

Do you consider this legal?
Would it hold up in court under oath is the real question.

For that, the answer is no.
