Goes by your location. If the court case is in their state it's a bit more complicated so I'll leave that as IANAL. But it's definitely legal.

FYI that law about notifying is only applicable to phone conversations. When 2 people are in the room talking, both need to know you're recording. Over the phone at least 1 needs to know.
