I received a call today from the Iberia representative in Israel. He said that he forwarded my letter and that I should be expecting a response within 45 days.

Which dept have you reached out to? How long do you plan on waiting for them to get back? Asap may as well mean 45 days...

45 days might be for compensation.

Margarita seems to be with the press office. That's all about PR, they know they don't have 45 days to respond to the media (which in this case is DDMS).

Whats really puzzling about this response is that they know Dans is a Blogger ( I'm assuming ) and can create a PR disaster for them...and this is the response??

Huh? They said they will get back asap which is normal. If they get back or not that remains to be seen.
