I think we're going to leave

"All tolls have been waived across FL highways", said Governor Rick Scott, in order to make evacuations quicker and easier.

Site for traffic update: https://fl511.com/  (in my opinion, it's very possible that Waze is still more efficient)

I find Brian Norcross' (of Huricane Andrew fame) updates to be the most comprehensive.
by Sandy I stumbled upon Bernie rayo from accuweather. I know nothing about meterology but I find his enthusiasm hilarious and he gives very in depth and clear picture and since I've been watching him he's been highly accurate on big storms

imyh it never hits. But leaving is like buying insurance for your life.
Didn't Andrew miss the area that was evacuated and hit an area that many people had evacuated to?

I'm not saying people shouldn't (or should) evacuate, but I think there are probably arguments to be made both ways and it's it's not as simple as a life insurance policy...

My brother-in-law left with his family. They're in Jacksonville now, I think they're also planning on continuing to Atlanta or farther for Shabbos.

their weather-path-predicting technology has hopefully improved a lot since then, and perhaps they can more accurately pinpoint the locations better this time around...

There may have been other (unpredictable) factors at play with hurricane Andrew, but that's a whole other story... :)
