Saw a Reddit post that by signing up you're waiving your right to participate in a class action lawsuit. Didn't read the whole thing. Is that true ?
If it is on the internet it must be true.  :)
Are there any T&C's you must agree to when signing up?

FTFY.
You're better off taking some sort of protection than to wait on a check that'll be less than the postage stamp it was mailed with.

Lol. Wells Fargo theoretical class action settlement was $142 and that's likely to decrease. What's the scale of Wells Fargo vs. Equifax? Wells Fargo must be a small fraction of Equifax. So it might not be as low as 17 cents, but prob not that far off.

I'm listed as affected by this. I'm going to freeze my credit files. However, if I simply freeze them, then I have to pay a fee. If i'm identified as a ID theft victim them it's free. To prove that I'm a victim, I need to file a police report. Can I file a report simply based on the Equifax info saying I may have been affected?

That would be filing a false police report unless you have knowledge of your identity being stolen.

I do have knowledge based on the equifax info. I have to wait until someone uses it before I can file a report? Seems wrong to me.

Why isn't it enough if a CRA says that I can assume my identity was stolen (I don't remember the exact verbiage)?

Is someone using your personal information to open accounts, file taxes, or make purchases?

It's only considered ID Theft if it's being used? The identity has (presumably) already been stolen, whether the person that stole it will be using it or not if irrelevant IMHO, that's why you want to freeze your CRs, what's the point in freezing after it was used?

NP, I am just stating how I see it and could be 100% wrong. Would not be the first time.  :)
