It's been free for t-mobile users for quite a while now, and I believe gogo is usually $2.99 for messaging. Still nice of them

More than just messaging is free with t-mobile. T-mobile users get a free hour of gogo full access. The "hour" is usually at least 2, but still not great for longer flights.
