Chase Reconsideration
« on: June 26, 2011, 01:04:27 PM »
I've been calling for a handful of people to try to get their cards approved over the last few days. I keep on getting the same response its pending and we can't discuss it you will get a letter. Today I asked the CSR if anything changed since in the past after 2-3 days you were able to discuss it and see if it could be recommended for approval . She said we have gotten many applications and this is the policy , sorry.

Has anyone had this experience?

Happened to my girlfriend when she applied for Sapphire Preferred

I called for her and got the same response, "It's pending, go **** yourself."

I called for 7 people some applied over a week ago . I only got one response for a denial on Sapphire because he already had the regular card. Are they all pending?

Update: I just called and they said that my app finished being processed on Friday (and that I was approved for $4000!) -- so it took exactly 3 weeks for the process.

I was denied for having too many recent requests. I called reconsideration 3 times but was constantly denied and they saw I called three times before...any ideas ?

I am trying to be reconsidered this weekend for the Sapphire. I was denied because I was already approved for 2 cards in the last 70 days (CO and BA). I called today to find out the absolute last day to ask for reconsideration. Tomorrow will be 60 days from my last approval, so I want to wait until 61 days since last approval. The rep told me that it's not 60 days but 6 months. I had the credit pull on 5/22 and denied on 5/26. He told me the last day to reconsider would be 6/25 (30 days from denial, not credit pull). He immediately asked why I had closed a previous CO card in 6 months ago and opened a new one 2 months ago. I was at a loss and told him I travel to China at least once a year and there weren't many competing flights to China for a decent price other than Continental and that I would get double miles on the CO flight purchases. So I hope I didn't sound like I was just making stuff up because he precluded to me that when I go forward with recon to "be prepared for a lengthy amount of questions why you want another card". I know they are trying to filter out people that are about to burn-up their credit limits and Churners. So I hope my excuse for another card is a valid one when I call. Any additional advise is appreciated.

the problem with pending is that if you did a 3bm then the first one or 2 you got approved for is one credit check, and the pending one is checked a day later.
i got denied my last one, so iwalked into a chase bank today and sat down with a banker. told him i want 3 cards to diversify my miles and that if he can make a call or two and get me approved, i would open a checking account on the spot.
he called, i got approved, i walked across the street to citi, took some money out, opened a new checking and got a $125 bonus. whole thing took me an 45min and i got 30k CO miles and $125. not a bad day
