PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

Because of all the noise about Bold possibly coming to an end, I decided to go ahead with an app even though my chances were not great.  CS 730, carrying $17k of balances, 8 new inquiries on EX.  And in fact recon said no due to 17K and 8 new pulls.  Any point in HUCA?

First pay off the 17k, then HUCA

I'm enjoying the 0%APR.  Oh well, can't have everything.  A free 17K loan is worth more to me at the moment than a Bold.

I just applied for a 3bm with Chase. all apps said pending, did the trick to find ouy the status and got two 7-10 day messages and one 2 week message.
Is there any way to get application numbers for recon as I prefer they dont see all my apps together?
Is there any way to find out which app was approved so that I dont have to call for that one? or is it better to call anyway?
Thanks

Call recon and say I'm calling about the status of... and give the card name and ask for application number. try to get it approved if not HUCA.

I think I read somewhere that you can call the regular customer service number and ask for each application's ID number.

Your situation is another example of why I think my method is the new way to go with apps. Apply for one deal with recon apply for another deal with recon apply for another deal with recon.

Also, why do you assume one was approved?

I tried asking reguler csr for app # and they said tgere is none.
I assumed one was approved cuz I got the  "in aprox two weeks" message.
How do u apply with recon? They dont think its strange that u call them instead of application line?

Update: called recon and asked about the SP app. They transferd me to another rep to "varify a few details" (not sure why) and then approved me with a 12k credit line, woohoo.
Gonna call soon for the other two.

Guess asking CS doesn't work.
Acc to wiki, 2 weeks notice means pending.
Sorry, I left out commas. I didn't mean to apply through recon. I meant to apply for 1, then call recon if necessary till approved. Then apply for a second card, and deal with recon if necessary. Then a third. Etc. Will still only be 1 pull, but each rep will only see 1 pending app at a time.

They transferd me to another rep to "varify a few details" (not sure why)
I have found them to do that when a fraud verification is needed.

Not sure what set it off. They asked stuff to do with address and other credit cards I had and then approved me stright away.

SUCCESS! called recon again and the guy said they can only do 2 cards in 30 days so which of my two apps shuld he look at?
I said BA card and he reviewd the app and aproved with 4k credit line.

Then I called again for the united card, rep said they allready gave me a lot of credit and the only way she can aprove is by moving over credit from the SP. I said sure thing and she moved 5k over and aproved.

3 for 3, i'm starting to love chase recon :-)
Btw these are my first cards with chase.

I've had the same Q's asked to me. Don't know what sets it off either.

Congrats! But don't get too comfortable with them. They can definitely be a pain.

I guess YMMV, but I wasn't alone in experiencing tough times. I believe it was May/June - go back to the posts in this thread from that time.

Instead of doing a 3BM, I tried a different route.

I applied just for my wife for UA, got pending, called and they just wanted to verify a few transactions on another card and then approved! b"h

Typing this as I'm on the phone and each stage progresses...

Then, I applied for SP, got pending, called and found out that the downgrade I did to my SP yesterday didn't kick in yet, so the app was declined for having the same card already. Frustrating bc last time I did this, it was downgraded the next day and this time I even called first to ask if my card was currently an SP or a regular and they told me regular. Yet, the app system still picked up on me having the same card. Got awkward when the rep asked why I downgraded a card and then applied for that same card the next day. Said that I wanted to still try out the card but didn't want to deal with the AF yet (yeah, not a great answer) and then she rocked me by saying that I only opened my first SP in April so the AF wouldn't hit for a few months still. I gave another "eh" answer by saying that I'm very nervous and OCD with my credit cards and just wanted to extend the length I have to try out this card w/o an AF. So she started reviewing, then got back on the phone and said she needs to pull my CR because the first app never even processed so they haven't pulled yet. I said okay (because that should still be only 1 visible pull on CR today from Chase). Came back on the phone and said I have too many cards or credit or something and then OFFERED to close a card for me - specifically the regular Sapphire that we were just talking about! lol Then she got back on the phone and told me she can't close the Sapphire because I have points in the account - ARGH! Another lesson learned today, etech - get your Chase points into a different account before closing (I just didn't realize she would ask me to close a card). So, I said let me go online and see if I can transfer them now into my Freedom and if that will show up in your system. I did that and gave her the confirmation number of the transfer over the phone. Then she transferred me to fraud verification. Fraud team kept me on hold for a while then came back to verify almost the same details about my Freedom card that they verified with my UA app. Regular rep got back on the phone and in a few minutes, approved me! b"h

Then, I applied for BA, got pending, called and was told they need the fraud verification team again. Again, they asked questions about my Freedom card. But, this time they also want me to fax over a copy of my driver's license :( Had to deal with that before and it's just annoying because first a rep gets it and scans it into their system and then they review it in the order received, so it could take a few days. But, otherwise it looks like that one may get approved.

So... I would say this worked better than the traditional 3BM. I did submit each app in a new browser just to avoid duplicate apps but again, I applied then called then applied then called, etc. 100K-150K points in one day, not bad! :)

PS If I had to guess, the need for verification on all 3 cards today might have been due to the fact that my wife's Chase account had a fraud issue on it a few months ago.
Update: After a few weeks of faxing documents (only to find out the banker did it wrong and my documents came out blurry), I finally brought my wife into the bank, got her ID verified, and on Friday got the approval on the BA card. So 3/3! :) b"h
