I recently got denied for the Saphire card, because "you already have the maximum amount of credit we can offer you", "too many recent requests for credit or reviews of your credit", and "Too many credit or loan accounts have been opened recently".

i just called reconsideration, and i told the guy that i signed up for it because the points are much more valuable than the other cards which i have because they can be used for a lot of airlines and for hotels, so he offered to transfer credit from my other card, and he approved me on the spot. he said it should take 2 weeks for the card to come in the mail. i wonder why it takes so long...

once i had him on the line, i asked him if he had access to my experian fico score which was pulled for this app, he told me he does, but he can't give it to me, but all he can say is that i have nothing to worry about. but he said i should stop with applications for the next 6 months.

This does reinforce your 3-6 monthe lookback timeframe.

Official policy, sweet-talking recon usually gets around it.

yea, that's their official policy, but they also told me something similar to that last time I called, so it can't be too true, bc that was not too long ago...
I had a nice conversation with the rep about building up credit for beginners, etc. he seemed like a nice guy.

I was going to make that exact point. He's telling you wait six months, but here he is approving you within six months.

Considering their 'window' of vision is six months back, anything approved more than six months prior to your current application (even if you've applied since and been approved) will just be considered another open account. I'd say you could churn every 3-4 months (as long as inquiries aren't hitting this bureau from other issuers as well).

I am trying to be reconsidered this weekend for the Sapphire. I was denied because I was already approved for 2 cards in the last 70 days (CO and BA). I called today to find out the absolute last day to ask for reconsideration. Tomorrow will be 60 days from my last approval, so I want to wait until 61 days since last approval. The rep told me that it's not 60 days but 6 months. I had the credit pull on 5/22 and denied on 5/26. .................................................

Wow, this is 3 for 3 on on the recon within 72 days! Approved for Sapphire without hardly any questioning other than personal data. Was told the credit line and suprised at how generous it was considering I already have 17.5k with them. I called 3 times in attempt to get a young woman with a cute voice as suggested here. I've been told my voice sounds kind of sexy to women on the phone so i utilized that to my advantage  8) I think the key is to get these people when there are about to either be off their shift or have just started and not already in a stressed mood (I called Sat at 3:55pm).

I applied for 3 cards for me and 3 for my wife using 3bm.  We both got rejected on UA for too many recent applications.  Then tonight I checked the mail and we both got letters about the CO and Sapph apps saying that we each have those types of account open already.  The letter doesn't say rejected but it does say,

"We appreciate you interest in our CONTINENTAL (or Chase Sapphire) credit card.  Our records show that you already have a CONTINENTAL account.

To ensure that you have the best credit card to meet your needs, we would like to speak with you.  Please give us a call at 1-888-220-6931 to speak with one of our customer service specialists so we can learn more about your credit needs and answer any questions you may have about your existing account."

It goes on to say that if I don't respond within 14 days the application will be considered withdrawn.

Has anyone gotten this letter?  What do you say to justify wanting two cards of the exact same type?  I'm thinking I should just call about the UA cards first and try to get them opened.  If I have to close CO or Sapph to get UA approved, I might be able to use that as justification for the CO or Sapph application.

I have churned the CO card. I closed it Jan of this year after getting a 35k bonus and received the 2nd card and bonus in May/June. The Credit Analyst I spoke to 2 days ago had even asked me why but I made up some overseas excuse about CO being preferred. I wasn't asking him to reconsider at that time, but asking him when the latest date I can reconsider. He just made it clear to me that I would have a lot of questions. That turned out to be false. I did a lot of work to prepare for the CO churn including making a new FF# and changing address info on the old FF# and planning the timing of closure and opening of the accounts. Luckily they still haven't taken back the miles. Your situation is unique and obviously brings a closer eye to churning on their behalf.

Just got off the phone with Chase reconsideration department. I applied for the United, Continental, and Sapphire about 2 weeks ago using the 3 browser method. I received a denial letter for the United based on "too many request for credit or opened accounts with us." They are telling me that they only allow 2 applications within a 30 days period. Is this true?

They told me to choose 2/3 cards and they will try to approve only those 2 and then I would have to reapply for the 3rd after 30 days.

I applied for the Sapphire Preferred in June and the Freedom in July. I just applied for the Continental and got denied because of "too many open accounts or recent applications for approval." Called the number and spoke with a courteous CSR who I politely asked if I could just move part of the credit from my Freedom to the Continental. He said no problem and that was that.

I dont have old cards. I also dont want to hurt my credit.

Choose the two that are most valuable to you and get them approved, then try to push the other one through (closing an old card was one example of how to push it through, Atlas310 just posted another example of what might work for you, and I'm sure if you searched on the forums you can find other techniques that have worked for others).
