Seems like an Israeli person redeemed a DL award on Aeroflot metal from TLV to BKK.

He was denied boarding at the airport, because DL voided the ticket.

Initially it was reported that he paid the YQ with someone else's CC, but later on it seems like he used his own CC but a friend's skymilespesos account, but failed to show his friend's ID at check in time.

Judge ruled against DL, saying that T&C of the ticket didn't state that he had to produce the Skymiles account holder ID at check in, or any other such limitation, and that if DL had a problem, they should have notified passenger in advance, and not wait for check-in time.

It seems from the article, that if DL would have notified passenger promptly that ticket is cancelled or that he's required to provide some kind of proof, they would have been OK. The problem was that they didn't notify passenger of anything, and he found out only at check-in time.

So if he would have shown the Aerloft check-in counter his friend's ID, Delta would have reinstated his ticket on the spot?? I dont buy that.

this happens all the time, if you google you'll see AC cancelled a bunch of revenue tickets on suspicion of fraud but did not inform the customers.

BA does this, Southwest as well if they think your account was hacked.

I reiterate that these are not audits for buying/selling tickets but rather anti-fraud actions.

Delta doesn't have an audit team against the sale of miles, just Anti-fraud

The worst is when a partner cancelled a ticket for fraud but then when you call to reinstate, the award space is gone and they refuse to help

Who says what the actual damages were when its without proof? The whole thing makes a statement without getting into that level of detail.

I am assuming that one can claim up to ILS 3070 in small claims court without requiring proof of actual expenses. That's not so important, the important part was that there were punitive damages assessed. That makes a statement, rather than just giving compensation for damages.
