« on: October 08, 2017, 12:00:57 PM »
I have a return flight to jfk and then connecting to Boston afterwards. I was wondering if aything would happen if  I don't take any luggage with me and go back to JFK and not get onto the jetblue flight to boston. Thanks!

Nothing, you can even pick up your luggage in JFK and just not get on the flight to BOS.

You should have to pick it up in NYC to go through customs.

I Skipped a short haul last leg on an AA ticket operated by BA. I got all the miles credited to AAdvantage including the last leg I didn't take no problem.
Make stuff happen.

If you own/operate a Travel agency, you have to worry, otherwise not.

Yes, see for example

Subject: United airlines Contract of Carriage

October 4, 2017

Mr. XXXXXX

RE:  Notice of Claim Pertaining to Point Beyond Ticketing and Demand for Reimbursement

Dear Mr. XXXXXX,

It has come to United Airlines’ attention that on multiple occasions you have violated the “Prohibited Practices” outlined in Rule 6 of United’s Contract of Carriage.

United identified four  instances since November of 2016 where you engaged in “Point Beyond Ticketing,” which is the unauthorized purchase of a ticket to a destination more distant than your actual destination.  As shown below, the last segment of each ticket was not used.  By including the additional segment, you were able to purchase your ticket at a lower fare.  Please note that no irregular operations were involved in these itineraries to prevent you from making the connecting flight.

Such conduct constitutes, among other things, fraud and a violation of Rule 6 of United’s Contract of Carriage.  Accordingly, United demands that you cease and desist these unauthorized practices immediately and that you reimburse United in the amount of $698.50 USD which represents the difference between the cost of the tickets that you purchased and the cost of the travel taken, within 10 business day of receipt of this letter.

Please remit payment directly to me via credit card or a check made out to “United Airlines, Inc.” and send to:
                                    United Airlines, Inc.

                                    233 S. Wacker28th floor

                                    Chicago, IL 60606

                                    ATTN: Sue Weiler

If you do not make the requested payment, United Airlines reserves its right to take further action, including filing suit against you to collect the amount owed, submitting United’s claim to an outside collection agency, terminating your MileagePlus membership, and/or refusing to transport you on future flights in accordance with Rule 21 of the Contract of Carriage. Additionally, if you have questions regarding this letter, feel free to contact me viaMPCompliance@united.com

                                                                        Sincerely,

@high end hobo Is that memo to the agency or passenger?  (Only asking because you said only travel agencies need to worry, but that letter looked directed toward the passenger)

Debit memos like for an LY or LH leg only the agency needs to worry

The only airline in the world that has taken/threatened adverse action directly against passengers that I'm aware of is UA

And following receipt of a memo, could the travel agency then go after the consumer?

They can theoretically Try
Does UA go after people that do Hidden Cities?
Worst they're going to do is ban you from UA or close your UA FF account.
I'm never heard of that in practice, just saw the warnings from UA

That's why you should credit to a partner on UA bookings
