DD-WRT firmaware with optimum wifi
« on: October 18, 2017, 10:33:17 AM »
hi

anyone know anything about their firmware / using it to make optimum wifi into a private network?
(ex:http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/747884-How-to-use-an-Optimum-WiFi-hot-spot-with-multiple-computers)

I got everything going by following the instructions there
the only thing I can't figure it out is that now the router doesn't broadcast any wifi! it itself is connected to the internet and anything connected via LAN works great, but it won't give off any WIFI!!

the second it connected to optimumwifi, the wifi light turned off...

any ideas?
TIA

build :DD-WRT v3.0-r29404 mini (04/05/16)
hardware: asus RT-N12D1

Was having the same question a few days ago

Not familiar with ddwrt, but worst case scenario you can plug  in another router/AP to one of the lan ports

Check out DDF thread:Wifi Extender for Optimum Wifi?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I had problems with DD-WRT and optimum, I don't know if it was the router I was using though.

Tomato by Shibby firmware has more features in general than DD-WRT. I have used both for many years. What router are you using?

+1!

And if there's an Advanced Tomato build it is even better, much prettier and easier layout and some additional functionality.
