El al airport change from Kennedy to Newark award flight

Booked the only available flight 11/17 TLV to JFK for award points.  Was told that could just move it to EWR, but now, after booking it, was just told that it cant be moved as there is no award flights left to EWR.

 Put me on a wait list... Any advice?

You expected them to save you a seat on both flights? What would happen if the flight completely sold out?

wish I could, booked the kennedy after they told me no problem to move them, now they tell me that its not available in Newark.  Put me on wait list, but even if get that, will likely be separated from my spouse as sure seats will be dispersed. She wont be happy about that.

They may have no problem moving you but they need a seat to move you to.

Nothing is off about your story, besides maybe for your understanding of award tickets.

When they told you they could change your flight, it was assuming there was space in the same class (award) that you were booked in for the new flight.

Keep checking the El Al website to see if any new award space opens, then call them to change.

Meaning not for the rate class needed to get an award. You are not understanding the whole concept. You can switch based on availability. If you were always able to book from JFK and then switch even if there is no award availability then there would not be much of a point in there not being availability.
