Purchasing duty free with a stop over
« on: October 31, 2017, 10:12:12 PM »
If one is traveling from tel aviv to philly with a stopover in Germany, can they purchase a bottle of wine in tel aviv duty free and take it through the German airport stopover?  As a follow up, can you buy a bottle on wine, non duty free in Israel and take it through the German airport on the way to the us.

I would have no checked baggage, only one backpack carry on.  If flying direct to states no problem in past but now stop in Germany, can i take it through or will they allow it through since it is in a sealed duty free bag and allow me to transport it to the states

A couple of years ago I bought a bottle of whiskey in Israeli duty free, I made sure to mention that I'll be connecting in London, and the salesman told me that as long as the bag remains sealed I should be good. I wasn't, Heathrow security took it away :(

I know you can't have liquids even when traveling domestic in the US so don't know how they're going to allow you to bring it from one stop to the next even though it was purchased at duty free.
Going from Canada to the US it won't be a problem is you bought it in duty-free there which is fine, now since you're continuing your flight with a stopover that's the only reason to see why I would say it would be okay as you had no chance to put away the liquids as you had it from your previous connecting flight.
In other words great question if I had to guess probably okay.
But I don't know if guessing is going to help you so maybe ask someone that I actually did what you're doing
Don't try to be someone else , be who you are because everyone else is taken.
