Google Home
« on: November 03, 2017, 04:26:42 PM »
I just got the Google Home Mini.  Is there a way to get it to ignore requests from my kids.  I thought if it learns my voice it wouldn't listen to them but it does >:(
I'm sure over time they will lose their interest a bit but right now they are all standing in my kitchen screaming "Hey Google"

Have the same issue! It does have voice recognition, however that will only stop someone from making a phone call to one of your contacts or adding an event to your calendar.
Bigger issue I find is that anyone can cast to your Google Home, meaning they can change songs, higher/lower the volume... anyone know if there is a way of stopping this?

Making you aware that keeping an Echo or Google Home on in your home on Shabbos may very well be problematic.  I have not found a rav that would permit it on in your home.  However, if it is in someone else's home and you are visiting in may not be an issue.  See tribetehreview.wordpress.com where i discuss it in more detail

Why not just turn the microphone off so it won't pick up anything you say?

Tuning off the microphone or using a smart outlet are ways I recommend to address the shabbos issue so glad you are doing the same.

I use smart outlets for my echos and smart cameras.

Got a new router (deco M9 plus mesh). Have to reset my home mini connection. The app on my phone finds the home and it beeps that it's connected but when I try finishing the connection it gives me this error

I tried resetting the home mini, turning off the 5ghz band on my router and I also disconnected the extensions and left only the main base on. Didnt help. Ideas?
My Tapatalk notifications don't always work.

I got it to work. I reconnected my old router connected to it (somehow it still was in my home app even though I reset it) forgot the wifi network then reset it to the new wifi name. Switched routers and it's working fine now.
