Shabbos Tips: Stay at Hotel Condado it is about a 3 minute walk from the shul (local community), bear in mind there is no eruv, so you will need to either leave the room open or make some arrangement with the hotel, they do not offer keys (or have that option at all)

Activities: Toledo - a day trip from Madrid to see 2 old Shuls. Can hire a tour guide, Rabbi Hanoka (info@jewishtoledotour.com), which is not cheap, or can take a train on your own. 1 of the Shuls (El Transito) is closed on Mondays. @Yehuda went on a day when that Shul was closed, and the other Shul was really just an empty room and seemed like a Christian organization now runs the center. Without a tour guide, it was hard to get anything Jewish out of our trip (other than an antique store that had some Judaica). But, people who have taken the tour (discussed in the thread) have said it was great! Recommended to go with a tour or not go at all (and ensure to go on a day when both are open!). Report in the thread that the sometimes-closed Shul has audio headsets for use, so that would help. If going alone, you can research the Jewish places at the link HERE

I spoke to Hadar and she wanted 200 euros which I've agreed to, but than she told me that almost everything is closed on Monday. Now we've decided to spend the day in Madrid. How do I know if I'll have a shower in the lounge when flying from MAD - TLV with Iberia?

At least she was up-front about Mondays. The 400EU guy probably didn't say anything...

I had access to Iberia's for class lounge that had showers etc. for free, but the priority pass lounge in MAD does charge 20 euros for showers I checked it out when I was there.

Gets cluttered. Same way NYC has one not five for each borough.

***SPAIN SUMMER 2012 EURO TRIP !! Need advice and planning help.. Please
« Reply #72 on: July 29, 2012, 01:02:58 AM »
OK so we changed our entire vacation... :o
I thank ALL of you who commented and PM'd me ( I'm learning the lingo slowly... Still be nice to me)
SPAIN! Figured I'd stick to one country..

Basically I need help as to figure out the order of cities I will be visiting, and which cities are a must see.

We are going to Spain from NY Aug 14- Sept 3 8)

Obviously Barcelona, and Ibiza. Barcelona now has a kosher restaurant.. Which is super exciting obviously.

What's the deal with kosher in spain?

What cities do I MUST do and are the nicest??
Madrid?
Vallencia?
Granada?
Malaga?
Gibralter?
Seville?
Mallorca?

Which of these are MUST sees? Or any other places in spain that are a must?

Can you tell me about things you've done that I must do?

Also where to stay?

Where can we be for shabbos? Have meals? Hotels near chabad?

Any advice would be amazing.

Mostly I need the order of cities that makes the most sense to travel to, and what's the best way to travel between cities?

Thanks so much!!
SO SO much!
Chai

summer 2009,
i flew into barcelona, was there a few days (daytripped to girona), took the train to madrid, was there a few days (daytripped to toledo), than flew to lisbon, portugal for a day, then flew to malaga, drove to gibraltar for shabbos, daytripped to Tangiers, Morrocco, then came back to malaga and based ourselves there (and the kosher restaurant, pizza shop and market in nearby Torremolinos) while we daytripped to Grenada (dont miss), Cordoba and Marbella

i had no interest in visiting ibiza as i was not a british single teen, but i would have liked to have visited Sevilla and Mallorca had i had the time

I imagine you'd get more info on a question like this from trip advisor forums or something of the like
