Yes my understanding is that just means you don't have to pay upfront but you pay the list price monthly payment. So the discount is just the $300 GC. I think best buy has a better deal as they are offering $300-$350 discounts directly off the monthly price.

It varies by carrier. Verizon is always 24 months. I think one of the other carriers is 30 months.

I'm a little late on this reply, but I've had no problems with mine over the last several months. It probably can't compete with any flagships, but it's certainly not slow.
