Best Vacation Spot
« on: July 05, 2011, 02:41:12 PM »
My wife and I are going to take our first vacation without our children in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary. We have a week and can go anywhere. [We have decided against Israel]. Its sort of like a one-shot opportunity. We prefer someplace with natural beauty rather than the world's big cities. Kosher/shabbos opportunities would be a plus. We are completely overwhelmed since we don't even have an idea of where? Any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

We have lots of AA or Amex points but we are fine with paying. We are starting in Lakewood. We would like to fly.

Thanks!!!

My father has a place on the ocean in Discovery Bay, Jamaica, that he rents out.

Kosher utensils included

You asked for natural beauty (not big city) and kosher/shabbos options.
Generally those don't go together.  There aren't shuls in beautiful places like Bora Bora or the Maldives.

Honolulu is the only thing that comes to mind for me.

How many miles do you have?
What time of year is this for?

August 14-21. We have 200k amex and 300k AA. I had just assumed it would complicate things to use miles.

with that amount of points and miles, flights should be totally covered, as long as you can find availability. Money is meant to be saved, miles and points are meant to be spent..

Honolulu

I wouldn't include Honolulu as a place of natural beauty. I thought of it as Philadelphia with a beach...

Honolulu, no.  But there are spots on Oahu of incredible beauty.  Still pales in comparison to the other islands, but if minyan+kosher food within walking distance of a hotel is a must those aren't really an option.
