You can rent or take  a driver (renting should probably come out cheaper)
You can sleep at any hotel or Kerestir has a Hachnuses Orchim

There is Hachnosas Orchim in Madd which should be the closest. And also in Eehel.  You should really stop by in Liska if you're going to Kerestir. It's 10 minutes away and you might as well respect R'Shayele's Rebbe.

Liska is very dangerous. Do not go there unless you are with someone who knows the area well. The tzion is surrounded by gypsies who can and will physically threaten/rob you.

There are decent hotels in miskolc and nyireghaza. Other than those you will either be in a hachnusas orchim type situation or a dump.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but deciding between Budapest, Vienna & Prague, which place would be the best base for a few days of touring, in terms of Kosher food/hotels, pricing, things to do...

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but deciding between Budapest, Vienna & Prague, which place would be the best base for a few days of touring, in terms of Kosher food/hotels, pricing, things to do...

I'd vote for Budapest. I went to all three this summer and I had a great time by all of them, but I'd rank them as far as where I'd want to go back as first Budapest, then Prague then Vienna. Let me know if you have further questions about specifics etc.

ETA: Forget about among those 3 cities. Budapest may very well be the nicest city I've been to and I've been to many cities across 40 countries in the past year and a half. That, along with the fact that a gorgeous 5 star hotel can be had for under $150 a night, and there's great kosher food available, makes me not understand why Budapest is not a more talked about destination over here.

Did you check out the view across the river of Pest from the hills of Buda at night? May very well be the most beautiful/magnificent nighttime view I've seen.

Prague is the nicest, vienna probably the most expensive and Budapest the cheapest. Food choices are pretty similar.

I'm perfectly happy for other people to have their own opinions, but I'm honestly curious what about Prague you found that made it clearly a nicer city than Budapest (things to do, and history aside)?

I came into my Euro trip this summer with the expectation that Budapest was going to be a very nice old city and that Prague would be the most beautiful city I've been to, and I came out of my trip thinking the opposite. I think they're both beautiful old cities, but whereas I thought Budapest had a few magnificent landmarks with a big "wow" factor, I thought Prague lacked that.

I'm interested in some kevarim, some landmarks (ie. palace), and some touristy (ie boat ride). I know there is a kosher hotel in prague, any such option in vienna or budapest?

I can do basic research and find all the standard stuff to do, but do you have any recommendations for off-the-beaten-path or little-known things to do in any of these 3 cities?

1. The are lots of Kvorim in Prague, non in Budapest unless you drive a couple of hours.

2. There are plenty of landmarks in Prague Jewish and non Jewish

3. There are boat rides in BUD, PRG, Vienna.

4. There are no kosher hotels in BUD, or VIE, but there is one in Prague.
