$1,400 worth of hotel credit
« on: July 13, 2011, 01:41:37 AM »
Hi,

I was given $1,400 worth of hotel credit (good at a variety of upper end hotels available in most big cities around US and Europe) as part of payment for a project.  I don't have much use for it, and am interested in selling it or bartering it for miles / flight certificates, etc.

PM me if interested.

Welcome (as a poster) to the forums!

Can you please provide a breakdown of which chains or hotels the credits are for? Are they like giftcards (i.e. transferable), or will bookings have to be done in your name?

Welcome!

Agreed, if you provide some details then I think it would be easier to determine the usefulness of the offer, etc. Thanks!

Hey guys,

I will attempt to answer any questions as clearly as possible:

1) The credit is transferable and does not expire.
2) The hotels available keeps changing based on what the company is able to "swap" for, although there are some "base" hotels that are virtually always available.  This is akin to timeshares that can be traded anywhere in the world (so long as there are open dates at the location).
3) There are some nice choices in the Mexico, Carribean, US, London, etc. some very high end, some lower end.  Some of the hotels are resort style (e.g. Breezes) and all inclusive, others are more small family vacation type spots.

In this case $1,400 worth is even more ambiguous, as it could mean $1,400 retail or $1,400 wholesale. It's also hard to make an offer on something that's always changing. What are they swapping for the stays?

Can you give some examples of a few of the hotels in the US?

Also, can it be broken down or must one pay for the entire $1,400 worth of credit?

Here's my best attempt at clear answers:

@AsherO The stays are swapped with other stays (similar to a flight attendant flying free on a different airline, where they can later reciprocate). The $1,400 credit is based on what the hotels each charge, and ovbiously those rates change based on season, occupancy, and other factors hotels use to determine pricing.

@Deal Guy currently it is a manual check, not one done on a particular website. you would email the guy your location of interest, dates, and he would check availability and send you a confirmation number if you want one of his options.

No

So it's fair to say it's $1,400 in retail, but with limited availability (compared to any hotel in any chain anywhere at anytime).

@AsherO Well, kind of.  However, the exclusive hotels the company has rights to (direct rights), must book if they have an open room.
