Why would he fulfill this campaign promise and not any others? ( Not to start a debate over whether the mepharshim could darshen that some have been fulfilled if you are medayik azoi)
This one was much easier than building a $20B wall or replacing Obamacare.

And the next president will cancel it...

It depends where we are at when the next president takes over.

Trump re-signed the waiver keeping the embassy in Tel Aviv for another 6 months

Are they worried about muslim violence ?

Yes, in the context of they know I go there and am going very soon and they think I shouldnt. But its called a cycle of violence, and dont waste any effort explaining to me how twisted that view is
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

Tax cut for the middle class?
Needs Congress.

While I don't remember all of them, he seems to do the things that he can on his own

I dont think trump did it for the right reasons, but it might be a good thing if it breaks the status quo impasse.

That being said, trump didn't really do anything. He said a lot of words, but nothing is actually going to change. If he wanted he could have renamed the Consulate the Embassy instead he is building a new embassy. That will take years and need funds from congress.
The consulate is tiny and unable to fill the capabilities of an embassy.

Tax cut for the middle class?
Which politician wants a tax cut for the middle class? That would never come close to passing congress.

Seems most commenting here dont know or arent acknowledging the cons. The mainstream view in this world (whatever your own opinion of it might be) is that Israel has no more of a right to a state than the palestinians, is illegally maintaining control of most of Israel, has no moral high ground over the rabid murderers on the other side, etc etc. Jerusalem is included in the illegal bucket and Israeli sovereignty over it should never be acknowledged, east or west. Now comes a guy who is hated by the whole mainstream world and he wants to make this his issue and draw a line in the sand. All we will get out of this is greater unity of antiIsraeli sentiment at best, and outright condoning of arab violence at worst.

Now I will admit that I dont know the pros of doing this. Can someone please lay that out to me? Who benefits? Who needs this? I dont buy that it cuts down on terrorism because it erases hope of earning Jerusalem through attacks

Just to put in my 2.

1. At this point, if he wouldn't make a statement similar to the one he made today he would me giving into (and encouraging) terror.
2. A stronger and more stable Israel = a stronger and more stable Middle East

What gives them the same right, because they were tossed out of the neighboring Muslim countries ?

This?
Recognizing reality helps keep the expectations of both sides realistic. A false illusion that Jerusalem as the capitol is negotiable doesn't.
The fact is that there was never any chance of any Israeli negotiating on West Jerusalem. Feeding such a delusion did nothing to help advance peace.
