Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

And therefore it will be hard to find other color hoods.

Why would I need a different hood? Seems like being discontinued is a good thing-it's cheaper now.

Still don't see why you need another hood, doesn't it come with a nice hood?

I have the city select. i think the uppa baby vista is a little better, but the city select is much cheaper. i paid $600 for the 2011 city select including the bassinet and second seat.

I have the Uppababy and am thrilled with the carriage and the customer service.  I think it fits the bill for what you are looking for .

1)It can be changed from the bassinet, to forward facing or back facing very easily.
2)It is great to push around
3)It is easy to fold (and can even be folded while the seat is in forward facing position, unlike most bigger carriages).
4)Check out their website they let you know which car seats it will work for.
5)The wheels are not air filled or plastic.
The basket is very useful and large, the hood has a great sunshade etc.  You can also buy an attachment to convert it to a double carriage (if you need it in the future).

There are so many features on this carriage that I really like.  I would make sure to only buy it thru a geniune dealer otherwise they won't cover the warrenty.  I loved the carriage so much, I bought their stroller as well!  I think you can get the carriage for a little over $600.

I had the city mini and bugaboo cameleon we liked the city mini much better, though it does have down sides, you cant have the baby face you and the seat doesnt sit up all the way but its a breeze to fold. STAY AWAY FROM BUGABOO WE ONLY HAD TZORIOS WITH IT. the straps dont hold its a pain to fold it takes up your whole trunk IT CONSTANTLY FALLS INTO CRACK, the list goes on ...........

I also have an uppababy and love it.  It was great while leaving in NY (besides for the subway) but now I live in a city where you go from house to car to store to car.  the UppaBaby is a bit bulky for that and takes up a lot of room in the trunk.  But it is super comfy for the kids!

We have the Britax B-Ready stroller which has a single/double option and can fold with the second seat.
We liked it more than the city select single/double.

We LOVE it!!

That's a requirement on my wife's list.
Sorry to hear that your bugaboo fell into crack.  The thing is expensive enough as it is, let alone having to feed its crack addiction!

my sister in law got the first wave (or whatever its called) and she was very happy with it.
however it doesnt go to 50 lbs - thats a 5-6 yr old
she dot it thru bed bath and beyond. when she flew with it and they broke it, she was able to return for a full refund.

personally i had the phill and ted and was pretty happy. now that my kids are older its nice to be able to use it for a 5 yr old (we have a long walk to shul on y"t) and my 3 yr old goes on the bottom. as they get older, obviously they like going on the top better but they were ok with sitting in the back for the most part.

But is UPPA baby worth an extra $180 if you can find the Frog for about $500?  What did they fix?  It seems to be bigger and less attractive than the Bugaboo?

OT: Anyone have any idea why the prices for a good stroller has to be so high? You'd think a well made bug-a-boo knockoff could be sold in mass for $200 or so.

What am I missing?

someone who is going for the name bugaboo doesnt want the knockoff, and someone who is going for a good stroller, is paying for the product itself , quality, cs, durability... obviously i wouldnt mind if someone would make a copy of an expensive good one such as the uppa baby and sell for cheap... I ll be the first customer!

Yeah, you are right. Bug-a-boo was a bad example.

A knock off of the uppa baby - possibly minus the customer service for $200 sounds do-able.
