Used car - if you're buying privately is much simpler because there is no HST. You can just search on Kijiji and buy and export.Just get the seller to sign their registration that it's sold, drive it to the states (exporting it at the border - you'll need a letter from the manufacturer that it meets USA standards) and transfer ownership/register it at your local DMV
From what I can tell, it's a few hundred in tax, and it's waived if the car is made in North America (bec of nafta). I'm sure I'm not inventing the wheel, but haven't found quality info on the Internet.
I can't file myself for a HST refund?
IIRC it is percentage based on component origin
I called the CRA and they said no
There's no HST in Quebec.
See this http://www.ucda.org/DealerInfo/GstExport.aspxThere's QST
See this http://www.ucda.org/DealerInfo/GstExport.aspxAnd http://www.ezbordercrossing.com/the-inspection-experience/import-a-vehicle/importing-vehicle-from-canada/
Link says can avoid HST if they ship it to me.
No dealer will do that for you
Unless you find a crook ?
Y not? I'm gonna buy a car from them.
Because they will get in trouble with Toyota. Most dealers won't sell you the car if they know you are exporting it. But no dealer will export it for you
Y they get in trouble? Honda voids the warranty, but Toyota lets.
Sorry Ergel we can’t deliver the cars like this…If you want to use the car in Canada you can come pick it up in our dealership if no unfortunately I cannot do anything…
