Buying in Canada to bring to US, is it worth it because of the weaker Canadian $ ?

From what I can tell, it's a few hundred in tax, and it's waived if the car is made in North America (bec of nafta).

I'm sure I'm not inventing the wheel, but haven't found quality info on the Internet.

You are not inventing something but this is more lucrative for used cars

Correct. Your main issue is with having to pay taxes in Canada which is 13%. Plus, most dealers won't sell to you if they know you will be shipping it out of Canada. Plus, you won't be able to register the car in Canada without a Canadian license.

These are the problems.
Solutions:
Create a corporation in Canada to purchase the car for you (or find someone with a corporation already). Have them purchase and register the car, with paying HST. Export the car to the US and register it in your name. Have the corporation apply for an HST refund for export for commercial use (selling to you). (I have someone who does this, but he will charge you for the service...)
Next, find a dealer that doesn't care that you are exporting the car. I found one, you can PM me for details.

Used car - if you're buying privately is much simpler because there is no HST. You can just search on Kijiji and buy and export.
Just get the seller to sign their registration that it's sold, drive it to the states (exporting it at the border - you'll need a letter from the manufacturer that it meets USA standards) and transfer ownership/register it at your local DMV
