Anybody have Rabbi Sudakevich's contact info? I sent him a message from Chabad.org a couple of days ago, but he hasn't responded yet, and I'm worried that he didn't get it. I'm going to be in Tokyo for Shabbos and I don't have a place to stay yet.

In general, if I want to travel outside the cities, is Japan highly priced, or can it be done affordably?
Also, what scenic areas aren't to be missed?
I know it's a general question, just trying to think of Asia plans for next year, and I've been spoiled by the low cost Asian countries.

If the PH Tokyo is supposed to be the nicest Hyatt property in the city, how come the Andaz is a lower category hotel but costs more cash (yet less points) for a night? Has anyone stayed at both properties to compare?

I stayed away from the cities, I hit up the mountains and loved it. Japan was prohibitively expensive. I ended up sleeping in my hammock as even hostels are $60 per bed (in a room of 12).
I ended up spending over 1k for the 10 days I was there just on transport & food etc

Not sure what you are planning to do, or how long you are staying, but the PH is in the business district. How many nights are you staying?

As of now, just one night. Landing 9pm in HND and leaving from NRT the next day at 5pm. It'll be winter.

If you want to maximize time, maybe stay in a different area.

That's my plan, I was just curious if anyone ever stayed at the other one.

Based on the recent OMAAT review, seems the Andaz is hands down  better than the PH Tokyo. Anyone here feel differently?

A friend of mine stayed at Arima Onsen in Kobe.

I was blown away by the PH, though after watching Lost in Translation, staying there was a no-brainer.

I never sat Lost in Translation, though I'd venture a guess that the Andaz was not around at that time, hence my question.

Ok, I'll try to watch the movie, but did you read Nick's review on OMAAT?

Not seeing anything in that review that wows me at all.
We had several wow moments in just one night at the PH.
