Sheraton Parsippany Hotel
« on: July 19, 2011, 07:37:19 PM »
Any thoughts of advice of a Shabbos stay? Was looking for a NY area hotel (SPG, a preference) with an outdoor pool or a relaxation space.

Thanks in advance,
Eli

in case you wanted a quiet pool, this is not going to be the place. The hotel rents theirs out to a sports club company and uses it as a community pool for locals.

How shabbos friendly is the Sheraton in Parsippany?
Might be doing a family shabbos there.

We did a shabbos there a few weeks ago. They were very accommodating. We rented fridges for our rooms to keep food in (they're small, get a few) and extra cots/cribs. We paid for the use of a conference room for the weekend and they allowed us to keep hot plates in there left on. They cleaned the room Friday night after we ate there (but not shabbos afternoon, you may want to clarify that beforehand in case you want to eat shalosh seudos there as well). The hotel will disable your electronic locks and give you keys to the room upon request, but don't lose the key or there's some ridiculous charge. The shul is about a 25 minute walk, if you're going to go then call before shabbos and let them know you're coming. They don't always have a minyan Friday night. It worked out well and we had a great time.

I would like to go with a few relatives to Parsippany for Shabbas. Either April 4-6 or April 11-13 (right before Pesach). We will not have a minyan. only 7-8. If anyone is going to be either in the Sheraton or next door in the Hyatt house, and wouldnt mind if we can join their minyan. Or team up to make one. Please let me know!!! Thanks

In the Tri-State area, you can go to the Sheraton in Stamford. It's a safe bet for any Shabbos as there is always minyan nearby. Though it's a category 4.

Im not but Ive been there before over Shabbos.

It seems as if theres almost always a minyan. Some people even walked over from some other hotel 15 minutes away for the minyan. Apparently this is common over there.
