They do fly on Shabbos, the agreement was that they won't Take off or Land in TLV on Shabbos.
I think it is that not SCHEDULED for that.

agav Eged bus service in Israel also officially doesn’t have service on shabbos they just end shabbos early at 4pm (all year round)
Not true!
Egged officially is Machlel Shabbos.
The bus routes go according to the "status qou". Cities that did not have bus routes on Shabbos pre-state, continue to not have. Cities like Chifa that had bus routes in Shabbos pre-state, continue to officially have bus routes on Shabbos.

Tel Aviv didn't have bus routes on Shabbos pre-state?

As far as Elal flying on Shabbos after IRROPS, what would you have them do? Per Israeli Air Compensation Laws (a favorite on DDF I'm sure), if the flight would be delayed until Motzei Shabbos instead of landing on Shabbos, then they'd owe $3,000 shekel per passenger. Is there an exception in the law for shabbos?

Obviously for a Shomer Shabbos person, of course you sacrifice the money, but Elal is a company and it could get very expensive if they'd owe an additional 750,000 shekel for a delayed flight on top of normal costs of being delayed.

Obviously that's not the reason why they're mechalel Shabbos and that's not the only place where they're mechalel Shabbos. If they really have a problem with Shabbos - but for the money, then they should close/sell the airline...

Do you think there should be an exception in the law that there's no compensation for a delay that would have made it to destination within the allowed margin of not for shabbos?

My point is that it wouldn't help, they would still fly on Shabbos (in case of IRROPS).

IINM there is something in the law about Shabbos. Don't recall the exact details.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

If the flight was cancelled due to weather issues, isn't that exempt from the compensation law?

With?
Property owner, which is אדמו"ר מגור,
I think in beginning it was part of agreement they will not operate on Shabbos,
But when they started flying on Shabbos they agreed on not taking of or Land.

Which property?

He is indeed famously an owner of a very valuable real estate portfolio in EY.

What route does Elal fly on which they can fly on Shabbos without taking off or landing on Shabbos? I know it's possible to take off on Friday and land on Friday and cross over Shabbos along the way. For example a Friday morning flight from HKG to NYC going eastward/over the North Pole. As far as I know Elal doesn't have any such routes.

Ben Gurion Airport.Could be I'm wrong, but AFAICR, part of the agreement was that he can always tell them he wants them out, (entire Airport) just need to give them 3 years notice.

When El Al started flying on Shabbos they agreed not to take off or Land on Shabbos for next 50 years.

Not sure about their routes, but it's Take off and Landing in TLV.

Doesn't sound right.

And he's ok with overall chillul Shabbos in the airport? I doubt such a strategic property is privately owned.

When did ELAL "start flying on Shabbos"? What's the significance of 50 years?

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
