Uber vs Lyft
« on: January 08, 2018, 03:24:38 PM »
I’m sure it’s YMMV by locale but I’ve recently found myself using Lyft rather than Uber. I’ll often find here in Lakewood that for some reason at the time that I am looking for a ride Uber is on surge pricing schedule, charging almost double the price that Lyft is asking. On a recent trip to Miami it seemed that Uber had trouble pinpointing my pickup location at the exact terminal at the Airport. Lyft pinpointed it.  I had to cancel an Uber that seemed to be going in circles trying to find my pickup point at the hotel while Lyft came without an issue. On the way back from Miami to FLL Uber wanted $120 due to surge pricing (holiday season)!!! I took a Lyft for $36. Perhaps I was just unlucky and my experience was not representative of the typical riders. Have others had similar experiences?

I don't use either exclusively but recently when I compare the 2, lyft has been cheaper.

New York here. UberX/pool is almost always cheaper than Lyft/line. Plus the price that first pulls up usually stays for at least a bit on uber, if you want to compare.

The other day Lyft quoted me $38 for a ride. Went to update my CC information and within 30 seconds the same ride became $73.

I choose lyft by default, because I can't stand the uber navigation, and many drivers don't want to use google maps or waze.

I agree with you %100. Uber drivers end up using the native maps app on the drivers app and it always make the driver miss my pickup location.

Only thing is that lyft gift cards are hard to find and even so they act as promotion money and cant be combined with existing promotions.

Uber on the other hand... Gift cards are everywhere where you can make some decent cashback (%7.5-10) depending on your credit cards if you are smart.

The past 2 weeks I've been comparing on every ride Lyft vs Uber, Lyft was always cheaper and sometimes a big difference in price.

And btw Juno is still the cheapest, currently 30% discount.

Where are you located? In Brooklyn lyft and juno are more than double the price of Uber.

Hmm... Yep Brooklyn, by me Uber is skyrocketing, Lyft I get great prices and Juno even better with 30% discount, the only concern with Juno there's no option to add a stop

Uber was a pain in LAX last week (price surged from $12 to $46 in less than 10 minutes), tried lyft, much faster ETA, plus i had 50% off. was a pleasure.

I started using Lyft recently, so far I am getting better pricing than Uber.

I guess my experience was not an anomaly....

I get the flat fares with uber. Lyft or juno can't compete with that.
