Based on this reasoning I presume you consider the Democrats responsible for Hamas. Am I right?

Not sure how you extrapolate that directly from what I've said but no question Hamas has and still is benefitting from all the sympathy they have from the left.

Doesn't this just keep the vicious cycle going? Which leads to my second question:
Of course it does, but that may still be a better situation than the cycle ending with only the bad guys having guns.

That is a fair point if that is the way it ends.

Where are all these guns coming from that bad guys are using?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

now, I assume if they can get one legally then from a gun store, and if they can't then the black market. (ie: the same place drugs come from, somewhere down south where they speak Spanish)

if guns are made illegal, then people willing to do things illegally (bad guys) will get them from the black market.
gun control is moot untill there is control of the border

Do you understand the US is an exporter to Mexico for illegal guns and ammo?

I didn't know that but I still think my point is true. Currently it is easy to get a gun here so the flow of illegal guns is going to be from easy (usa) to harder (say mexico) but flip the equation and the flow will reverse. All markets work this way, black or otherwise. If drugs were made legal here I would expect the flow of drugs to reverse as well.

Actually it makes your point look foolish. The gun problem in the US has nothing to do with the border or Mexico.

my main point is the second paragraph

if guns are made illegal, then people willing to do things illegally (bad guys) will get them from the black market.
gun control is moot untill there is control of the border

Say we made guns illegal now, what would happen to the black market for guns? Crooks are just trying to make a buck, if there is an opportunity they will take it. Making guns illegal here creates that opportunity.

ETA: I'm not discussing if there is a problem now, I'm discussing if making guns illegal now -without addressing the border- can solve the (alleged) issue

I understand why you want to make it about the border, but it has nothing to do with it.

Mexico (the cartels) get guns from the US. Just look at border seizures over the last year.
Guns used in crimes in the US are from the US, not any other country.

Here are my two original questions:
1 - What does Oct 7 have to do with the US?
2 - Does more guns in circulation in the US make the country more safe?

ETA: No one said anything or suggested making guns illegal.

thanks,

I agree. I am saying that banning guns will change this.

However, this does not have anything to do with your 2 questions. (sorry)

To answer the second question, I doubt members of this forum buying guns will make things worse (then again looking at the length of this thread https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=32453.0 I'm not so sure, lots of pent up anger.)

Just read this whole thread. My head is going to explode!!!  :)

2 - Does more guns in circulation in the US make the country more safe?

I think you know my position on guns in general, which I believe is pretty closely aligned with yours. I also haven't really followed the ensuing conversation, but

1) there has been a massive rise in antisemitism, including verbal and physical attacks, not just the massive protests and riots. If you believe a gun is necessary for antisemitic attacks, Oct 7th would have strengthened that view immeasurably.

2) Probably not, though if the reason for carrying is personal safety in not going to be too concerned about the country as a whole.

1- copycat style attacks (I believe the fight there is significantly or mostly religion based)
2 - In the short term no. In the long term (evolutionary long term), possibly. I didn't think about it or discuss it enough to get clarity. With me owning a gun, in both cases yes :)
