Since everyone is concerned about excessive sentences I thought it was appropriate.
Who's concerned about someone attempting to run down a cop ?

+1 When that Jewish guy killed Kletzky in Brooklyn, there was no one advocating for shorter sentencing.

One week should be more then enough for him to understand what he did wrong and never ever do it again

What he did was incredibly stupid, and whether he thought through it at the time, what he did was attempted murder, or at the very least aggravated assault on a police officer, both of which are class B felonies, with sentences of 5-25 years.

Yeah, I think 25 would do it.

You took an off the cuff response, literally. C'mon.

Add a poll (  with the blessing of @henche ) and see how many believe that.

Wow. Guy should be locked up for life.
People don't get life for murder.
...and make sure he is not a Jew.  :)

Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I think you should read up on sentencing in NY before you just throw out numbers. Violent B felonies have all different kinds of sentences including flat sentences and indeterminate sentences.

There is an 18 year old kid from a frum family sitting at Rikers now for doing almost the same thing. He ran over 2 people while driving one stolen car and carjacking another.

You're proposing that he be sentences to 25 years. That means you want an 18 year old kid to waste away his prime years for this. What happens when he gets out? He'll be close to 40 with no skills, no job, criminal record. What have you created by imprisoning him for that period of time?

People throw out numbers like they dont mean anything. 25 years for doing something stupid maybe because he was high or drunk and didnt want to get caught?!? Jail is not there to remedy stupid.

Still ongoing.

And non-frum women too. What difference does it make who his victims were?

He was not charged with attempted murder. His highest charge is Robbery. Does he deserve time, for sure. 25 years, may as well give him life. He needs help more than anything else.

What would have happened if the officer lost his leg or arm by being run over by the car thus maiming him for life. Would that change your opinion on the matter?
