I am thinking of going with a cheap term, still looking for a good place to get it from.

Did you go there because it's cheaper, or for another reason?

Is there a legal way to have part of your premium rebated? Can you get miles or something for signing up?

Spoke to an Ameriprise Financial Advisor who got me quotes and we ended up going with them. It would be different for each individual as they each rate differently depending on family history etc.

Obviously, but people our age can usually get decent coverage for peanuts, especially term.

If you are doing Term go online first e.g. term4sale.com, that way you dont get sweet talked into buying a Company thats more expensive because the agent makes more $$ on it.

Yup I went on SelectQuote.com first and then saw that the agents quotes were pretty much the same.

Pretty much the same as what ? The cheapest company or he sold you Genworth for the same price that selectquote wanted.

No agent could get you a better price then anyone else for the same policy. The price you see online is the price that anyone can get.

SelectQuote gives you quotes from multiple companies. The advisor gave me quotes as well and they were all the same range, his preference was Genworth so I went with that, didn't make a difference to me as they were all very competitive.

Yup, $1 a year won't hurt me B"H.

The other thing to keep in mind is that even if a company has an A+ rating it dosen't mean they are all equal. He had experience with Genworth being fast and easy so that was a big factor.

Generally any A rated carrier is great, their are lots of factors to consider including, if someone wants to convert a policy down the road, and other factors as well... although termforsale is a good place to check for pricing..

Conversion is hogwash in most cases . Its only use is to sell the company that one works for.

Isn't the rating about credit worthiness (but not how quick they pay etc.)?

This is so true, I don't get how this is ethical.

On a side note: I've probably been licensed to sell insurance in more states than anyone on this site (I had to do it for my job), but I've never sold a policy in my life.

Yes it is . And the ratings for term aren't a big factor they are all reinsured and protected by the US Government etc. anything above A in my book for term is the same
