Because it feels good to help society. Plus usually the thing that I would work on is something that would benefit me personally.
Kinda like the recent story with the woman that created the fidget spinner and forgot to renew the patent, she had for nearly a decade and did nothing with it, as soon as the patent expired and others were able to make it it became the biggest fad, I'm pretty sure people became rich off it (definitely not the original woman though).P.S. Some of the above might not be 100% accurate, but the point still stands
I think one thing is clear, at least to me. Definitions really is curious about the world and history, including Jewish history and worldview, but did not receive an education that provided these lessons, and secular history was non existent.
It's 100% inaccurate btw.Just look at her invention it has nothing to do with the fidget spinner.
If I could, I would ban all non-English post from DDF.
And have this gem disappear ? Criminal
+1 Never saw that thread before. ROFL.Reminds me of something I actually posted on whatsapp today, while stuck in a certain place and was trying to entertain myself.زايت وين شرايبت مين ايديش ميط عرابيش بوحشتابن
Zayt Win Shrift Main Edish Mt Arabish Buhstaben
And because of that, the chances of it succeeding would be lower than someone who invested their blood, sweat, tears, and money into the same thing.
Okay, lets discuss the financial side of things. Like how much it costs to develop a medicine and bring it to market, How much it costs a company like Apple to develop a device like the iPhone and all of its features, how much it costs to produce a music album, etc, etc.
Do you think we would be better off with no patents and technology being the way it was 100 years ago?
It costs millions of dollars for millions of collective hours of work.
Let's take it for granted that you're right, (although I disagree with that as well,) what good comes from having the advancement of ideas and new products come to the market at a slower rate? Why would we want to do anything that would slow down our economy and technological advancement?
Not clear what the question is.
Because everything would be cheaper/free.
In that case, what happens when the going gets tough and it doesn't feel good anymore? What happens when your life circumstances change and you won't anymore personally benefit from what you're working on? What happens when you get too busy and simply can't afford to spend all that time working on something that doesn't earn you any money?
You pass on your knowledge and let someone else continue.
