I didn't mean denying the holocaust. Even denying the part their people played in it makes them complicit. At this point I would be much quicker to support the German economy than th Polish. They have taken resposibility for it and the polish are not.
Exactly. I did stay in Hamburg overnight without the same feelings as when I go to Poland.

One incident that stands out for me was related to me by a friend. His brother was backpacking through Europe maybe 20 years ago. He was dressed as an ordinary backpacker, no outwardly signs of his being Jewish. HE was talking to his friends in English. Standing on the train platform in Poland someone approached him and said "I smell Jew". Its in their mother's milk.

I think the Germans cant help themselves either. I was in FRA last month and the way they treated travelers to Israel was pretty horrific. Their secondary security screening made me want to take a shower (a real one, not one of their "showers"). My wife, my daughter and I never felt so violated in our lives. At least I got to say, "Once a Nazi always a Nazi" without repercussions. If I said that in Poland today I would go to jail for 3 years under this new law.

Poor Polish victims. Maybe we should have more sympathy for them. We have been looking at this all wrong for all these years. The whole of Europe suffered. Poor Germans they lost 2 Million people too due to the war that only a few Nazis perpetrated. The Lithuanians, Ukranians, Russians, Estonians, Latvians, Hungarians, Romanians, Greek, Italian, French etc were all victims.

This is what a true hero did... https://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10008043

I heard Rav Berel Wein say many times: "The Talmud says that certain people will come after we die and act as prosecutors against any excuses we made for not being able to do certain things in our life. The Danish king and his people will come and act as prosecutors against the rest of humanity for their complicity in the Holocaust."

Can't we ask that of other countries as well?
I always feel like that when people visit the Ukraine for instance.
At least they don't officially deny it.

No one denies that, or is ungrateful for it, the problem here is the Poles running from what murder they did do.

Again...Whataboutism.

Oh, and not nearly enough. And lets not forget all the children left in monasteries that the Poles refused to give back.

It should be mentioned but is not an excuse for defending those who did the opposite. The ones who saved victims are to be commended and praised. Yad Vashem has a large section praisng those who did. On the other hand those who were complicit should be called out for it.

there were close to 7,000 Poles who were honored by Yad Vashem for being Righteous among the Nations

Since when do you shy away from controversy? Say whats on your mind about the topic. As with all of your posts related to Jewish subjects its a learning opportunity.

Yes, its near and dear. A very touchy subject 75 years on. But an important one nonetheless.

On this topic, there almost was a Jewish Pope because of this. Cardinal Lustiger of Paris was a child from a Chasidic home who was placed in a monastery during the war. He was a candidiate for Pope when JPII died.

Why are we surprised? We are talking about Polish people doing stupid things.
