Tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers are very easy (cukes are climbers). Strawberries are perennials and will come back yearly but you need to be careful re bugs and animals. Same with leafys which can be care intensive.

But they take a long time. Be prepared for that.

Many vegis will need the ability to have an area fenced off and protected form animals and kids.

Try a book called Square foot gardening - it explains a very easy & practical way to gardening. The book discusses everything you need to know to create & maintain a vegetable garden. method works well in tight spaces - teaches you how to grow a lot in a 4x4 raised bed etc

Whatever you plant (Tomato, cukes, zucchini, pepper) try to plant  a few varieties, so that you don't have all of a sudden 82 tomatoes to eat in two weeks. Different varieties should ripen at different times, so that maybe you'll get 5 weeks to eat your 82 tomatoes.

Depends on what you're planting, but generally after the last frost

Tomatoes and Zucchinis are very very easy!

Zucchinis can grow much larger than you'd find in stores so it'll be fun to harvest them... (lots of them)

Corn needs to be hand pollinated. See Google for additional information.
