Chase Iberia card
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:30:27 PM »
Chase opened a new co-branded card(one up from the last they did) in partnership with Iberia.

Benefits include :
$95 annual fee, not waived the first year

Signup bonus: 50,000 Avios after $3,000 in spend within 3 months, plus 25,000 Avios after $10,000 in spend within the first year

$1,000 discount voucher each calendar year you spend $30,000

No foreign transaction fees

10% off Iberia flights when paying with the Iberia credit card

3x Avios on Iberia purchases, 1x everywhere else

Card is Visa Signature

The big question is will this follow Chase's other Avios card, the BA card which isn't subject to 5/24?
DPs from r/churning indicate early that it isn't subject to 5/24
If that is true, it is indeed very exciting.

Direct link to apply, to be replaced by Dan's when available:

ETA: Seems 5/24 DPs are getting stronger as many blogger now officially declare it "non 5/24"

10% off fare only (unlike BA that's 10% off the entire cost).

How is it different than the BA card?

From FT:

"The key is to pull in the Avios from your Avios.com account rather than push them out from the Iberia website. If you use the combine my Avios on the Avos.com website it should work. Once in the Avios.com account they can be transferred to BA in the usual way."

DATA POINTS
it seems 5/24 DOESNT apply to this card, yes i got declined.
called reconsideration. TWICE. second time spoke to a manager. apparently, they determined that some recent balances impacted their decision although i tried explaining that they are 0% or extremely low promo apr so the benefit of carrying a balance is beneficial for me. my overall credit limits are very high and percentage available is more than 85% and same across most cards. so, keep in mind that although not 5/24, make sure your overall credit profile shows strong.

cleared some mistakes and auth users etc from credit report (experian). you can go to experian.com/dispute and dispute for free after adverse action. searched high and low now for link to this card as i wasnt finding it anywhere... found but wasnt approved even after the automated system requested more info (never had that online before). called reconsideration and they offered me to realign credit line with min 5k. then had to go to additional verification department... a little hassle but worthwhile nonetheless... said it would be about 10 business days for card to arrive as the benefits etc... are still being worked on... that was a strange comments but happy to get another account with chase notwithstanding 5/24
