CMIIW but I imagine he means אל תהיו כעבדים המשמשין את הרב על מנת לקבל פרס for the gan Eden part. And by the gehenom part I think he means that you shouldn't do anything because of יראת העונש.

I know that many are against newer editions of Monopoly, but we played this version over Yom Tov and must say I was impressed.

The speed die really did make the game quicker and added more strategy into your purchases. We followed the games official rules and each game last about 2 or 3 hours. I suggest you give it a try.

I've played this edition a number of times and the games also took 2-3 hours but I still prefer the original

My recommendation is a game which doesn't give out the opportunities to perform actions at random.

(Is the desired experience that of trying to play well or that of seeing the wacky
turns of events the system can produce? Either way, there are better options.)

My kids love this game. It eliminated some of the more complicated parts of the game (property tax, railroads) and it added an element of excitement with the fake cash. It also makes the game engaging even when it's not your turn, as you can always use a token to check someone else's transaction for a fake, so you are not just sitting bored until it's your turn.
