Annoying telemarketers
« on: April 13, 2018, 03:30:02 PM »
What can I do to stop getting calls from telemarketers, I got 4 calls today alone, I usually get 2-4 a day. I must have "won" 1000 "free" vacations already. How do I stop them they are so annoying.

I read your title wrong. I thought this was about how to annoy telemarketers.

(Reading it as telemarketers who are annoying didn't make sense because it's redundant.)

I'd suggest annoying them by putting them on hold or using a service like this: http://jollyrogertelephone.com/how-to-send-your-telemarketers-to-this-robot/
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I was getting scam calls hourly from Apple. I just talk to them like I do to @aygart and they finally stopped calling.  :)
I just found a new supply of forks!

Google has a beta program for their dialer app for Android. They have a sign up link somewhere. They are working on blocking and filtering spam calls and ever since I got their beta app I haven't got any calls. Before that I had about 5 spam calls a day.

Not worried about false positives?

T-Mobile has this feature on the plan / line level, however I've had cases of:
false positives
So I turned it off.

Install the True Caller app.

And give up your contact list. They upload your contacts and use that to ID those numbers for other people.

Not worried about false positives?

I haven't reached the point in my life where I would need to...

The telecoms really need to get their act together in this respect. Getting 4-5 calls daily is ridiculous and to use a app like truecaller to make calls does not make me comfortable at all. I know it's too late as it only takes one person with your contact info and the app and you are in their database. Just the knowledge slightly irritates me.

T-Mobile has this feature on the plan / line level, however I've had cases of:So I turned it off.

I turned it on but it never did anything.

Install the True Caller app.

http://]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.truecaller

And then the next time you borrow someone's phone to call one of your parents and truecaller notifies you that you are calling dad/mom. #truestory

What's the problem with that? Why does it affect you?

+1 I downloaded the app but didn’t use it for that reason. I didn’t want to give them access to my contacts. Not sure why anyone would want to

Let's say I saved Freddie's number as "Freddie", and not his real life name. True caller will use that to ID him. So if Freddie calls you, you'll see the name "Freddie" show up instead of his real name.

I've seen some interesting names.
