I heard a new trick.  Cast iron on the grill. Fat stays there and its juicy
In that case why not just do it on the stovetop?

So for letís say 1/4 inch thick patties how long on each side with indirect heat?

If you have a sous vide and they are relatively big burgers that's a great option.

not cedar planks?  i have seen those grill mats in home depot. officially can be used for most grilling.  my issue is that it wont have the grill marks ;)

Do like the fancy restaurants do. Cook it however it tastes bests and then place it into a grill pan for a few seconds to make the grill marks.
