The Do's
Great value grill: Someone please add :)

The Dont's
Don't play with the food on the grill. Flip it once (or twice if need be), that's all.

Be careful. Once your grill gets used you can have one heck of a grease fire and destroy your grill.
I singed my face as a 10 year old (but that was leaving fires on while closing tank valve instead of closing valve then lighting new fire to burn out excess)

If the company claims to use a kosher type of oil would that change anything?

I believe it actually burns and the burnt residue adheres to the metal.

Regardless, if hagala works,  then libun Kal works.  So by the end of the seasoning process, once the stuff was burnt, it should be libun kal.

Maybe it technically should be if it can be reliably quantified.

What more could you need than the fact that the pot is in front of you, seasoned?

I just don't think this CRC memo is very well considered.

@moko How do you kasher a cast iron pot that is seasoned with possibly treif oil?  Does it need libun gamur, libun kal, or nothing?

there are differences of opinion on this matter. If it is seasoned with kosher oil then no kashering is necessary. I would be happy to provide hashgacha if Lodge is interested.
It comes down to 2 factors:
1. Rama Mpano- if the oil is treif , even if you had a lot of oil on the pan it would require kashering
2. What constitutes the din of machvas. How much liquid is needed. I believe conventional wisdom is that you need enough liquid for frying. But others hold as long as it is more than a coating such as Pam , it would qualify as a machvas and then be subject to that machlokes. Even though normally machvas from treif would require libun, others believe that this is at best a safek and hagala would be sufficient.

To number 2, shouldn't it be worse than machabas, since the whole idea is that there is no liquid left by the time you are done?

Also, if it only needs hagalah, then why isn't the seasoning process itself (at like 500+ degrees) libun kal?

And the last paragraph seems to be almost exactly our case (not totally)

Because you're not supposed to use the same pot for fish and meat

Speaking of fish. What kind of fish and how are you grilling it?

Do you ever give them a good cleaning or just a light brush down every now and then?
