Canadian Banking Question
« on: April 30, 2018, 11:42:49 AM »
Hoping someone here can help me with this.....

I am living in Israel temporarily and need to deposit USD cheques (drawing on a bank in the US) into my USD account in Canada  but TD Canada Trust will only accept mobile deposits for cheques drawing on a Canadian bank.

Does any Canadian bank allow mobile deposits for cheques drawing on US banks?

I don't think opening a US bank account is an option for me because I don't have a social or any proof of address there. If This assumption is wrong, please let me know :)

What about TD cross border account ?
I tried on my TD Borderless account and on my TD USD Chequing account and both gave me a message that "This cheque is not drawn on a Canadian financial institution. To deposit your cheque, please visit a branch."

Thanks. Looks like a good option. I'm on the phone with them now because when I applied I got this message:

Sorry, we were unable to verify your identity

We can't find you in the public record.

The most common reason this happens is discrepancies between the personal information you provided and the public record - for instance, name, contact information or forms of ID.

If you think this is the case with your application, please try again.
