Meanwhile nothing directed against the Jewish community, although someone (not jewish) was stabbed yesterday in Stamford Hill in relation to the looting. People are a little stressed that ithe violence could affect us.

Police also told shop owners to close early, and secure their shops.

The Prime Minister also said now that there will be an extra 10,000 police on the streets tonight, so hopefully things will quiet down.

Basically, some gangster got shot dead by police, and his friends and neighbours started protesting. It then became a "black" cause, so black youths all over, joined in and started rioting and looting all over London. Once people saw that others were getting free laptops, ipads, sneakers etc., and the police weren't doing anything, THAT became the cause, and they went out to score some free stuff. Now it's just plain anarchy over here...

Pardon my ignorance, but since when do the coppers have guns? Or was he shot dead by repeated whistle blows

I didn't even know blacks lived in England.

The CO19 (firearms) unit do. They only come when the situation calls for armed police. In this case they had some leads on this guy, and were following him when he got shot. He had a gun on him.

i thought that was a joke, police officers there really dont have guns...i mean the regular patrol officer in the street.
