Many people have also had better luck writing to the office of the President for reconsideration on Citi cards:

Citi reconsideration
« on: August 11, 2011, 02:07:05 PM »
I got declined for the aa business card due to something  negative on my credit report ( I had no problem getting approved with Amex and chase) I currently have aa personal with 25000 limit I called for reconsideration and they said there nothing they can do. Should I try calling again? Can they move credit from a personal card to a business card?
Thanks

They declined me about three weeks, so I sent a letter about why they should reconsider my application to the President's Office at:

CitiBank Executive Review Department
P.O. Box 6000
Sioux Falls, SD 57117

A nice lady called me, told me they had to do a second credit pull and I might not recieve the bonus since I had a personal card. I told them to go ahead, it took four phone calls with the same lady and a fax to verify addresses, but they approved the card and I am eligible for the bonus. So it takes some work and requires another credit pull, but the people at the president's office are much nicer and worth the 75,000 miles in my opinion.

I guess you never had their Cash Return card that paid 5% on everything? No longer available.

Just curious,  why are you always bringing up things that used to be around?  Who cares? It doesn't exist anymore and is therefore not worth anything to any of us.

update I sent them a letter and about 8 weeks later I got a email saying that I was approved. Since then I did a 2bm got instant approval on 1 and the second one they  refuse to approve telling me that I have reached the max amount of credit that they will issue to me. I called recon to shift credit and was a no go.

It was in reply to Citi being “worthless”. I was showing why they are not worthless IMHO.

"Worthless" is a vry strong word. But I will say that citi doesn't come up to par with AMEX and chase.

The cc's currently being offered by chase and amex are a lot better then citi's current offers. I'm not only speaking in regard to signup bonuses and rewards, I'm talking about the benefits.

I've gotten plenty from Citi (and given them too..). Sure, their CS isn't great, but neither is Chase' CS (some would argue much worse). At the end of the day, there is plenty of value in both.

I am not disagreeing with you. I guess it is the old adage “what have you done for me lately”.  Did anyone compare to Citi when you could churn the same three cards every three months? I can see for MILES and MILES.  ;D

You mean every 60 days.
They were indeed the easiest, and no Recon required, but those fun days are long gone.
I did toast to them in my Cathay supplied designer pajamas with 30 year old single malt as I was flying in my First Class suite on Cathay Pacific though.
